RACHEL TENNANT
I am an artist, poet and photographer with a professional background in landscape architecture.
Landscape, Poetry and Place
This isn’t about a collaboration between separate artists (poet, painter and photographer) but a collaboration with myself.
What is the relationship between poetry and painting and what are the possibilities and limitations of both art forms. What happens when we throw photography into the mix?
To me it’s clear they are all interlinked through ourselves. We create the links through our senses. Our memories and emotions create the layers that we can recall either visually or through words.
This is an exploration of landscape and people. I am fascinated by the science of the earths existence, its geology and geography; the tentative relationship of people to the land through ownership, use and displacement; the cultural heritage of landscape through language, place and memories; and our perceptions of beauty, nature and wildness. These are expressed and layered through all these different mediums.
